Blood is one of the most vital resources in Apex Legends PC. Since Apex Legends is a battle royale game, your survival is more important than anything, even killing enemies. Having a good grasp of how Blood works in the game is the first step to increase the chance of your surviving. In addition to this, if you understand the way the Body Shield functions to increase your blood, you will get a key to succeed in the game.
Apex Legends Blood and Body Shield system is not quite complicated. There is no change made to the values between characters, and the recovery items cannot be boosted by other items or skills. As soon as you hold a good grasp of basics, you will become more familiar with this system in the Apex Legends game.
Basic things about Blood and Body Shield Indicators In Apex Legends battle royale
All Apex Legends characters are equipped with 100 Blood without any shields when they first spawn in the game. Equipping Body Shield that can be found in the game is the only way to help increase Blood.
When you gear up your character with a Body Shield, you will see some white bars above your blood bar.
Common (white) Body Shield with the addition of two shield bars equal 50 Shield. Rare (blue) with the addition of three shield bars equal 75 Shield. Epic (purple) and Legendary (yellow) Body Shield with the addition of 4 shield bars equal 100 Shield.
The amount of damage inflicted on blood is the same as the shield. Body Shield in Apex Legends doesn’t decrease the damage taken, it only helps increase the character’s blood. Therefore, Apex Legends characters have 100 blood in total when they are not equipped with Body Shield, 150 with Common, 175 with Rare, and 200 with Epic and Legendary.
Blood and Body Shield do not automatically regenerate. The only way to recover them is to activate some items and skills.
How to recover blood in Apex Legends
At the moment, there are three healing items in Apex Legends. You can move while recovering your blood, but your movement speed will be slower and you can’t do anything about it.
- Syringes (Common): heals 25 blood and takes 5 seconds to use.
- Medkits (Rare): heals 100 blood and takes 8 seconds to use.
- Phoenix Kits (Epic): heals 100 blood and 100 body shield but takes 10 seconds to use.
If you heal excess blood, the excess amount will not count. The only item that can recover blood and body shield is Phoenix Kit. Another way to heal your blood is to use D.O.C Heal Drone of Lifeline.
How to recover Body Shield in Apex Legends
There are three Apex Legends items you can use to recover Body Shield. Similar to Blood, you can move while recovering the shield, but your movement speed will be decreased and you cannot do anything about it either.
- Shield Cell (Common): heals 25 shields and takes 3 seconds to use.
- Shield Battery (Rare): heals 100 shields and takes 5 seconds to use.
- Phoenix Kits (Epic): heals 100 shields and 100 blood but takes 10 seconds to use.
A fast way to recover your shield is to replace your current one with a new rare one. If you are wearing a damaged Common Body Shield, it’s best to replace it with a new one rather than using Shield Cell.
Legendary Body Army can regenerate the shield when the player tortures an opponent.
Other Body Shields that can protect players in Apex Legends battles
There are some extra Apex Legends items that can add protection to the players, but they don’t have an influence on the amount of blood and shield.
For instance, a helmet is a great item for defense and it has no influence on the amount of blood. They help decrease 30% of your head damage (Common), 40% (Rare), and 50% (Epic and Legendary). Legendary accelerates the regeneration of your active abilities.
Knockdown Shield is a specific shield. This type of shield only functions when you fall down, which means they don’t have an effect on your blood. They can protect you from falling from 100 damage (Common), 500 damage (Rare), and 750 damage (Epic and Legendary). Legendary allows you to resurrect yourself.
Tank Gibraltar is an Apex Legends character that has a special shield to protect him, but this shield doesn’t affect his blood. The skill called Dome of Protection defends all allies within a circle from bullets for 15 seconds, while the passive Gun Shield defends the chest of the character from bullets.
Now, you already have a great grasp of how Blood and Body Shield functions in Apex Legends game. Make sure you always bring some recovery items with you, search for good Body Shields and use them to fight against your opponents to become the next Champion of the game.
